Rifle/Pistol
Looking for an opportunity to regularly shoot with a friendly group of people? Then come out and join the Aurora Sportsmens Club Rifle & Pistol matches on the second Sunday of every month starting at 9am. This event is open to the public and is held rain or shine. Rifle Matches are held on the 100 yard range and Pistol Events are on the 25 Yard range. Since those two ranges are closed to open shooting, you’ll know that everyone there is participating in one or more of our matches.
A variety of opportunities—from Benchrest Rifle to Club Rifle and Pistol to NRA Pistol—are available for shooters of all ages and abilities. We hold matches for juniors and adults, as well as “A” class and “B” class flights to support shooters of equal abilities. After all, we are not really competing against each other—just looking for a forum where we can come together each month to have fun and show that we are improving. If we don’t already hold a match which interests you, we are sure we can create one.
All you need to bring is your own shooting equipment—firearm(s), ammunitions, eye & ear protection, stapler, scope, etc.—and the right attitude. There are minimal attendance and match fees; the targets appropriate for each match are provided by the Rifle and Pistol Department.
Based on the match rules, some events have time limits, others do not. All can be fired any time between 9am and 2 pm, but you’ll want to start your last match before 1pm to complete in time. At 2pm the range switches over to IDPA skills drills—another great activity sponsored by the Rifle/Pistol department.
If you have any questions you can contact the Rifle/Pistol Department at 815-264-9000 ext 25.
