Muzzleloading Range Rules
- All general range safety rules will be followed at all times!
- No smoking while loading, on the firing line or loading bench area, or places where black powder is stored.
- Do not use smokeless powders. Use only black powder or black powder substitute.
- Do not load your firearm until you have wiped the barrel of excess oil and grease.
- Do not overload your firearm.
- Do not load your firearm directly from a flask or powder horn.
- Do not cap a percussion or prime a flintlock until you are on the firing line.
- Do not carry a muzzle loader with the hammer at full cock.
- Make sure your muzzle loading firearm is safe to shoot. If you have any doubt take it to a qualified gunsmith.
- Seat the load directly on the black powder in the breech of the barrel. Shooting an improperly loaded firearm, risks almost certain damage to yourself and others around you and your firearm.
- Hearing and eye protection are required.
